Born October 3, 1928 in Baltimore, MD, Died November 7, 2021 in Asheville, NC
In the years between those dates Carol felt blessed to travel a fulfilling life journey. Her childhood years in Baltimore were filled with love and support of her caring family, friends, and teachers. Carol said the example her parents set in spending their lives caring for others taught her that life’s purpose is to reflect to the others the love given us by God. Carol met her loving husband, Otis Ackrill, at The University of Maryland. The forty years Carol spent teaching young children, including 25 at The Calvert School, rewarded her with countless moments of joy and laughter. She believed that the small measure of adversity that came her way helped her appreciate the many joys with which she was blessed, and she hoped she has already expressed her gratitude to the all those who gave her joy during her journey.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Otis Ackrill, and her great-grandson, Wilder Tarleton. She is survived by her sister, Leigh Hoover, her 3 nephews, Michael Hoover, David Hoover, and Lee Hoover, as well as her daughter, Cindi Ackrill and her son-in-law, Mark Guidry, her granddaughter, Katherine Tarleton and her husband, Jackson Tarleton, as well has her new great-granddaughter, Lyra Tarleton.
A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributions to DonorsChoose.org to support teachers of your choice.
