Carolyn Jane Murphy Arrington, passed away on January 15, 2025 at the age of 83. Carolyn “Connie” was born November 29, 1941 to the late Joseph Maxwell Murphy, Sr. and Bessie Gray Cooper. Connie’s mother passed away shortly after childbirth and Connie was raised by her stepmother, Florence Shook Murphy, whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, Connie was preceded in death by her three brothers, Joseph Maxwell Murphy, Jr., Richard Dixon Murphy and Ronald Glenn Murphy.
Connie was a lifelong resident of Asheville, North Carolina. She attended St. Genevieve’s School and worked as a legal secretary in the Jackson Building in downtown Asheville for many years. Later in her working career, she decided to become a certified nursing assistant and cared for many residents at Deerfield Retirement Home and as a private duty sitter.
Connie was a Christian who loved her Blue Ridge Mountains and bluegrass and gospel music. She was a kind, thoughtful and generous soul. She took great joy in sharing Christmas presents with her family, friends and those less fortunate. She was known for making and distributing pounds of delicious peanut butter and chocolate fudge every Christmas.
She is survived by a niece, Cheri Brown (Thomas) of Asheville; great nephew Joshua Brown (Asheville); great nieces Kaitlyn Brown Hull (Justin) of Fairview and Rachel Brown Norton (DJ) of Fairview; and great, great nephews and nieces Hunter Hull, Charlie Norton and Kade Norton.
A private family memorial service is planned for the spring.
