Carolyn Kicklighter Dawson, age 84, of Franklin, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2025. Born on February 6, 1941, in Glennville, Georgia, Carolyn was the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Kicklighter and Ava Dell Bacon.
Carolyn lived a life full of adventure, faith, and love. She worked as a flight attendant, which allowed her to embrace her passion for travel and meeting people from all walks of life. Known for her love of flowers, family, and friends, Carolyn was a woman of strong faith and attended First Assembly of God.
On May 29, 1976, Carolyn married Thomas Alfred Dawson in St. Petersburg, Florida. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing on October 2, 2011.
Carolyn is survived by her stepdaughter, Cheryl Palazzini, and her husband Rick of Jacksonville, Florida; her great-niece, Mary Petrush of Atlanta, Georgia; her brother, Thomas Edwin Kicklighter, and his wife Lisa of Glennville, Georgia; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her sisters Mary Kathryn Bazemore, Marion Rhinesmith, and Edith McGee.
Carolyn’s life was a testament to strength and devotion. She will be remembered with deep respect and cherished in the memories of all who knew her.
At Carolyn’s request, no formal funeral or memorial service will be held.
