Cecil Yount Obituary

            Cecil Edward Yount of Asheville, North Carolina, passed August 18, 2021. He was eighty-eight.

            Cecil was born August 5, 1933, to the late Charlotte Lindsay Shell Yount and Stuart Lester Yount in Lenoir, North Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from East Tennessee State University and served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

            In addition to his parents, Cecil was preceded in death by a brother, Stuart “Buddy” Yount, and sister, Patsy Huffman.

            He is survived by his children, Suzanne Yount and Michael A. Yount (Vicky Smith-Yount), both of Asheville, North Carolina; sister, Betsy Troutman (Chuck) of Lenoir, North Carolina; cousin, Bobby Lon Yount (Elizabeth) of Asheville, North Carolina; and several special nieces and nephews.

            A memorial service will be held to honor Cecil at two o’clock the afternoon of Monday, August 30, 2021, at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina. Reverend David Moore will officiate. Following, between three and five o’clock will be a Celebration of Life at Penland Family Funeral Home (125 South Avenue, Swannanoa, North Carolina 28778). In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mountain Care Adult Day Services (PO Box 5956, Asheville, North Carolina 28813).
