Celyn A. (Thompson) Carver

Celyn A. Carver (nee Carolyn J. Thompson), known as Lyn to most and Lynnie-Pooh to her loved ones, passed away unexpectedly on April 5, 2021, in Sylva, NC, at Harris Regional  Hospital. She was born in Dade City, FL, on May 19, 1965, to Robert W. Thompson (deceased) and Bernice Carver Thompson (deceased). She was a 1983 graduate of Zephyrhills High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee. She was employed at Drake Software in Sylva, NC. She was a political activist who never stopped working for what she believed in, especially animal welfare and health care access for everyone. She worked with Down Home NC and Circles of Hope. She enjoyed playing Dungeons and Dragons, and she went to Dragon Con when she could. She was a fan of fantasy novels, art, video games and Pokemon Go. She loved her furry pets, Marcus, Lizzie, Misty and Cricket. She is survived by her three children, Jessica Martin of Saluda, NC, Nathaniel Martin of Charlotte, NC and Jake Martin (Brittany) of Greensburg, Indiana. She is also survived by her three sisters, Barbara Graham (Jim) of Decatur, GA, Joan Chollar (Dean) of Boerne, TX and Susan O’Day (John) of Waynesville, NC. She had one granddaughter, Diana Martin (Jake and Brittany), of Greensburg, IN. She had eight nieces and nephews. A memorial service was held at Bridge Park in Sylva, NC, on April 10, 2021.
