Daniel Edward Pugh

Daniel Edward Pugh, age 72, beloved husband for 45 years to Dr. Cathy Pugh (nee Rajkovich).  Loving father of Thomas and Christopher.  Devoted brother of Claudia (Michael) Nix, his twin Donna Pugh and the late Cynthia (Peter) D’Angelo.  Brother-in-law to Nick (Ronelle), Thomas (Marcia) and Robert (Sally, deceased) Rajkovich.  Son of the late Robert and Eleanor Pugh. Proud uncle to Matthew, Mara, Melissa McKee and Mark D’Angelo (deceased), Erin (Scott) Mirsky, Nick (Stacey) Rajkovich, Daniel Rajkovich, Samuel (Ann) Rajkovich, Andew (Rachel) Rajkovich, Robert Rajkovich and Warren Rajkovich. Undergraduate degree from Otterbein College and graduate degree in Eastern European and Soviet Studies from John Carol University.  Dan taught history for 36 years, retiring from Medina City Schools.  One cannot memorialize Dan without sharing his core belief that it is important to study history because the events of the past directly affect our lives today.  Studying history improves our decision making and judgment and gives us deeper insight into the lives of others. He coached high school and middle school wrestling and football, youth baseball and soccer.  Dan enjoyed volunteering for the archaeology department at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, where the volunteers jovially referred to themselves as the “lab rats”.  He enjoyed reading (especially historical nonfiction), travel, and time with friends. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Firelands Archaeology Research Center, P.O. Box 1013, Amherst, Ohio 44001.
