Darrell Edward King, Sr.

Darrell Edward King, Sr., 71, of Leicester, NC, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023 at Sapphire Ridge in Brevard, NC. Born May 9, 1952 in Asheville, NC, he was a son of the late Dane and Anne Ruth King. Previously of Candler as well as a variety of other places, he always considered his home to be Leicester, NC. He was a graduate of Erwin High School, a member of the Moose Lodge, an NRA contributor, and true-blue Democrat. As a jack of all trades, he drove semi and dump trucks on both long and short hauls, did painting, body and welding work, and even worked in sales for a while. He loved racing of every type, but was especially fond of NASCAR. He used to race at the Asheville Speedway and other short tracks. He enjoyed car shows, muscle cars from his era, going fast, and fast women. Surviving is his son, Darrell Edward King II of Leicester, NC. No formal services will be held at this time.
