David John Barba, of Canton, North Carolina, died March 23, 2020, at Silver Bluff Village. He was seventy-five.
David was born April 19, 1944, to Kathryn Regina Gransback and Edward John Barba. He was a fisherman and a photographer, and enjoyed boating and camping. He was a member of Fletcher United Methodist Church and joined many mission trips. David served in the United States Army, and was an insurance adjuster for Travelers Insurance Company before retiring. He was a resident of Fletcher, North Carolina, before moving to Canton.
David was preceded in death by his parents, and by a sister, Phyllis Fitzgerald.
He is survived by his wife of fifty-one years, Dianne Pennington Barba; his children, John Barba, and Kathryn Barba Pierce and her husband, Russell, of Durham, North Carolina; brothers Gerald Barba of Glenside, Pennsylvania, and Edward Barba and his wife, Rosilita, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania; and his grandchildren, Kayla Barba Pettit and her husband, Ryan, of Fletcher, North Carolina, Josh Barba and his wife, Kendra, of Clyde, North Carolina, Clare Pierce and Aidan Pierce, both of Durham, North Carolina.
A service in David’s honor will be held at a later time at Fletcher United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverends Ed Hillman and Randy Sherril. Memorials may be made to Fletcher United Methodist Church ( 50 Library Road, Fletcher, North Carolina, 28732 ). The family extends a special thanks to Silver Bluff Village for the care that they gave David.
