David Lee McCurry

David Lee McCurry, 67 of Asheville, NC was called home on Friday, August 11th, 2023.  He was the son of the late Herbert McCurry, Jr. and the late Peggy Drake McCurry Barnes.  Both parents preceded him in death along with brothers, Herbert McCurry III and Michael McCurry, sister, Susan Ann Taylor and step-father, Roland Barnes.

David was a lifelong resident of Buncombe County.  A lover of animals he would feed crows, birds, squirrels and rabbits in his backyard daily.  Three cats stole his heart, Callisto, Bertram and Niko.

He was an excellent dancer, trivia buff, pool player and bartender along with many other talents.  He made friends everywhere he went, never meeting a stranger.

Those left to cherish his memory are his Aunt, Georgia Shepherd, brother, Thomas McCurry (Diane), sister, Barbara Doster (Allen), brother in law, Fred Taylor, nieces, Terri Taylor, Tracy Taylor, Portia Clowdis, Kerita Doster and Allana Doster, nephews, Adam McCurry and Darian Doster, great nieces and nephews and beloved cousins.  He treasured many special friends including Edna Riedesel, Greg Ricker, Pete Townsend, Mike Rhine, Jules Bradshaw, Miranda Lehane, Tito Chavez and many others.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 19th at 11:00 am at  Calvary Presbyterian Church,  USA, 44 Circle Street, Asheville, NC  28801 with Rev. Patricia A. Bacon officiating.
