David William “Goob” Peterson, 64, of Black Mountain, North Carolina, went to his heavenly home on November 6, 2022. He was born July 20, 1958 to the late Alice Ray and Bill Peterson. David graduated from Reynolds High School with the class of 1976.
David’s family was the most important thing to him. He was a devoted father, son, brother, papaw, friend, teammate, mentor and neighbor. He found great joy in each of these roles. His daughters and grandchildren were his greatest accomplishments. He adored them and loved them more than life itself. He was a very hard worker and always provided for his family.
If you knew him, you know when he wasn’t working you could find him on the softball field, where he made lifelong friends and impacted so many people. He was a ladies’ man with a kind, gentle heart. In his final days on earth he made sure everyone knew he was going home to Jesus.
Another thing people loved about him was his sense of humor. For example, checking the obituaries every day to see if his name was there (Guess what, Daddy? You finally made it!) As a good friend of his said, “People pass but legends are never forgotten.”
He is survived by his daughters, Charity Ogle (Mike) of Arden, and Amber Peterson of Black Mountain; grandchildren, Dakota and Gracie Weaver, and Camdyn Peak of Black Mountain, and step-granddaughter, Shelby Ogle of Swannanoa; and his ex-wife and the mother of his daughters, Anita Gregg of Black Mountain.
A service will be held at five o’clock the afternoon of Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Victory Baptist Church (Vance Avenue, Black Mountain). A visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at four o’clock.
