Della Elizabeth "Betty" (Rentz) Mellis

            Della Elizabeth “Betty” Rentz Mellis, seventy-six, died Saturday, July 10, 2021, at home in Asheville, North Carolina.

            Della was born October 28, 1944, in Walterboro, South Carolina. She was a long-time resident, too, of Charleston, South Carolina. Della was a Jehovah’s Witness.

            Della’s daughter, Elaine Youngblood, preceded her in death.

            She is survived by Spero Mellis, to whom she was married fifty-nine years; daughter Kathrine M. Davis and her spouse Mark of Arden, North Carolina; sisters Ellen Johnson of Akron, Ohio, and Renay Nesiba and her spouse Lyle of Chapman, Nebraska, and brother Alton Rentz and his spouse Heidi of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
