Dianne Pennington Barba of Canton, North Carolina, passed May 10, 2024. Born November 15, 1945, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; she was seventy-eight. She was adopted at age 6 and loved by her parents, the late Charles and Jane Elizabeth (“Betty”) Pennington.
Before moving to Canton, Dianne was a resident of Ambler, Pennsylvania; Ogdensburg, New Jersey; Marshalls Creek, Pennsylvania; Spartanburg, South Carolina; Fletcher, North Carolina; and Clyde, North Carolina.
Dianne worked as administrative staff at Skyland United Methodist Church, among other workplaces. She enjoyed reading, camping and playing games with family and friends. At the end of her life, she was overjoyed to be able to find and see two of her brothers from her birth family, Louis and Gary. Dianne was a member of Fletcher United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, David John Barba, to whom she was married for 51 years.
Dianne is survived by her children, Kathryn (“Kathy”) Barba Pierce (Russell Pierce) of Durham, North Carolina, and John David Barba; siblings, David Pennington (Judy) of Walworth, New York, and Lisa Pennington of Casa Grande, Arizona; and grandchildren, Clare and Aidan Pierce of Durham, North Carolina, Kayla Barba of Salem, Alabama, and Josh Barba (Kendra) of Jackson, Michigan.
A memorial service will be held at two-thirty the afternoon of Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Fletcher United Methodist Church in Fletcher, North Carolina. Memorials can be given to Silver Bluff Village at 100 Silver Bluff Dr, Canton, NC 28716.
