Dolores Dove Eanes

Dolores Dove Eanes, age 86, of Asheville, NC, passed away February 26, 2023.

Dolores was born on February 13, 1937, in Fieldale, VA, to the late Willie R. Dove and Lura Rakes Dove. She graduated from Longwood College, where her record in field hockey of scoring seven goals in one game remains unsurpassed after more than 65 years.  She received a Master’s degree from James Madison University and a doctorate from Virginia Tech.  She was a Professor of Biology at Patrick Henry Community College, teaching anatomy and physiology to nursing students.  A life member of Alpha Gamma Delta, Dolores enjoyed playing golf, solving crosswords, and watching sports.

In addition to her parents, Dolores was preceded in death by her sister, Edna Mae Young.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Suzanne Eanes Ponder (Kevin) of Asheville, NC; sister, Glenda Ottaway of Richmond, VA; step-granddaughter, Ashley Ponder Bascom (Kevin) of Mars Hill, NC, and step-great grandson, John English of Mars Hill, NC; several nieces and nephews; and family friend Brad Rogers of London, England.
