Donald Eugene Medling

Donald Eugene Medling, age 95, of Asheville, passed away on June 2, 2023.

A native of Asheville, he was a son of the late John David Medling Sr. and Leila Presley Medling, and was born on November 23, 1928. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Estellena Loraine Pressley Medling, and by his brother, John David Medling Jr. He is survived by his son, Stephen Medling and wife Sandra, of Asheville.

Mr. Medling grew up in the Biltmore and Kenilworth areas. He was a graduate of Lee Edwards High School in 1947. He served in the U.S. Army 45th Division during the Korean War. Following his time in the military, he returned to Western North Carolina and soon started his career with General Electric Corporation of Hendersonville, from which he retired after more than 40 years of service. Mr. Medling was a long-time member of Haywood Street United Methodist Church of Asheville, until its dissolution.

A private graveside service and interment will be held at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Arden, NC, on Saturday, June 17th.
