Edward "Ed" Reid Obituary

Edward “Ed” Lee Reid passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019, in Johnson City TN.  

Ed  was born on April 12, 1932 in Statesville, NC, the son of the late Mildred P. Nicholson Reid Lippard and Connley L . Reid.  In November, 1951, Ed enlisted in the United States Navy, where he was stationed in the Philippines, and served a tour of duty in Korea.   Ed received an Honorable Discharge from the Navy in October, 1955, having been awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Good Conduct Medal.  Following his active duty, Ed was a member of the United States Naval Reserve until 1959.   Ed worked for Crown Zellerbach Corporation, Seaside, OR for over  20 years, after which he had his own construction company until he retired.    

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jana  G. R. Johannessen Reid, Bakersville, NC; daughter, Teresa Bradley (Michael),  Longview, WA, son, Edward Jr.,  and daughter, Kimberly Bethune, Portland, OR;  six grandchildren and two great grandchildren; two brothers, Larry Lippard (Faye), Dickie Lippard (Barbara), one sister, Nancy Johnson, Raeford, NC; many nieces and nephews, and multiple extended family members, and many friends.  

His cremains will be interred at the Veterans Cemetery in Mountain Home, TN.  Memorial service and celebration of his life will be postponed until April 19, 2020 at 2 p m, at Cane Creek Community Building, Stagger Weed Rd, Bakersville.
