Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Gardner Mitchell

            Elizabeth Ann (“Libby”) Gardner Mitchell of Burnsville, North Carolina, passed January 9, 2022, at the age of 82.

            Libby was born to Daisy Brown and Charles Gardner in Burnsville, and grew up there, attending Burnsville High School. She later worked with Glen Raven Mills.

            Libby was preceded in death by two spouses, Tommy Burleson and Walter Mitchell; and by two brothers, James Gardner and Gene Gardner, and two sisters, Martha Elliott and Charlene Briggs.

            She is survived by her son, Edwin Burleson of Marion; grandson, Nick Burleson of Old Fort, North Carolina, granddaughter, Krisha Stewart (Jamaal); great-grandchildren, Maddie and Sidney Stewart;  niece, Karen Barlett;  and several nephews.
