Frank Staley Monroe
Frank Staley Monroe, 95, of Black Mountain, NC, passed away Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the North Carolina State Veteran’s Home.
Mr. Monroe was born in Charleston, West Virginia on April 8, 1925 to the late Charles Frank Monroe and Ann Mae Britt Monroe. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during WWII. He was married to his wife of 50 years, Joan D. Monroe. He was an engineer with AT&T for forty one years and was a real estate broker. Mr. Monroe enjoyed playing tennis. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by three sons, Frank Monroe, Jr., Britt Monroe, and Charles K. Miller, III; a daughter, Karen Whelehan; a sister, Juanita Downs; and a brother, Robert Monroe.
Survivors include his wife, Joan D. Monroe; a son, John Monroe of Boulder, Colorado; five grandchildren, Charles S. Miller of Black Mountain, Ryan B. Monroe of Michigan, Shaena Perrone of Florida, Brian Whelehan of Georgia, and Todd Whelehan of Tennessee; four great grandchildren; and three nieces.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Buncombe County Animal Shelter, 14 Forever Friend Lane, Asheville, NC 28806.
