Gail Anderson

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Gail Anderson of Asheville, NC, who left this world on June 4th, 2025 at the age of 83. Gail was born on November 7th, 1941 in Boston, MA to the late Alfred Frederick Anderson and Lois Howe.

A true light in the lives of everyone who knew her, Gail radiated joy, inspiration, and curiosity. She had a heart as big as the world she so eagerly explored—traveling across continents, embracing new cultures, and finding beauty in every corner of the globe. Her adventurous spirit was matched only by her deep devotion to her family and her desire to keep expanding her knowledge.

To her children, grandchildren, sister, and all who were lucky enough to be part of her life, she was a source of wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love. Whether gathered around the table doing puzzles or playing games, or across time zones over the phone, her presence made any moment brighter.

She lived each day with a sparkle in her eye and a genuine zest for life. Her stories, laughter, and love will echo in our memories and hearts forever.

Left to cherish Gail’s memory are her children, Doug MacFarland (Jamie Lormeau) of Norton, OH, Kimberly McCall of Hendersonville, NC; sister, Deborah Amon Ingram of Little Compton, RI and Savanah, GA; and grandchildren, Tyler A. MacFarland of San Francisco, CA, Ryan B. MacFarland of Portland, OR, Preston S. McCall Jr. of Hendersonville, NC, Alden E. McCall of Hendersonville, NC.
