Gary Jermaine Underwood

Gary Jermaine Underwood, age 38, of Asheville, NC passed away on July 10, 2024.  Gary was born in Birmingham, AL on October 17, 1985  to Cynthia Underwood, of Asheville, NC, and the late Donnerell Warren.

Gary was a graduate of John Herbert Phillips High School in Birmingham, AL.  He enjoyed music, reading, watching TV, walking, and social gatherings.

Gary is preceded in death by his grandmothers, Alberta Underwood and Glossie Warren; his grandfather, Wyn Dupree Underwood Sr., and his great-grandmother, Johnnie Bell Perkins.

Gary is survived by his siblings, Donnerell Underwood and Tania Underwood, of Enka-Candler, NC.  He is also survived by his uncle, William Underwood, of Birmingham, AL; aunts, Wanda Bramble, of Birmingham, AL, Jacqueline MaCafferty (Randall), of Birmingham, AL, and Cassandra Thomas, of Birmingham, AL; his great-aunts, Barbara Love and Linda Cherry.  He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, and lots of cousins.

When he was little he would always say “I want a piece of meat.” Gary was a very nice man, and he will be missed greatly.  The Lord has Gary now, and all his burdens have been laid to the wayside.  Till we meet again my son, in the next life time.  God Bless.  I love you doughboy – Mom.
