Gerald Bethel Colwell

Gerald Bethel Colwell, 60, of Asheville, NC passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at Mission Hospital.

Gerald was born on February 19, 1966 in Toledo, OH to the late Thelma B. Colwell and Ray W. Colwell. He is also preceded in death by his brother, David Colwell.

Gerald is survived by his daughter, Autumn Colwell Bory of Ocala Florida; sister, Becky Allison; brother, Jim Colwell; 2 grandsons; 3 nephews; and 1 niece.

Gerald lived in the Asheville area most of his life. He attended Charles D. Owen High School and later pursued culinary studies at AB Tech. Gerald built his career in manufacturing, where he dedicated himself to his work.

Gerald was a model train enthusiast and he loved fishing, even though he couldn’t swim. He enjoyed rock & roll, NASCAR, and video games. He could be silly, loved to tease people and was once affectionately nicknamed “Little Otter” for his playful spirit. Kind-hearted and generous, he did his best to help others whenever he could.

Gerald was loved more than he knew, and he will be missed by many.
