Harold Edward Wells

Harold Edward Wells, 87, of Fairview, NC and Fletcher, NC passed away on June 9, 2025 in Asheville, NC. Born on April 18, 1938 in Sterling Twp, MI to the late Edmund W. Wells and Rosetta A. Remington.

In addition to his parents, Harold is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Tyrrell Wells.

Before making his home in Western North Carolina, Harold lived in Mt. Clemens, MI ; Juneau, AK ; Palm Beach Shores, FL & Lake Park, FL. He earned a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Wayne State University and Michigan State University. A passionate world traveler, Harold found joy in exploring nature—especially through camping and birdwatching, two of his favorite pastimes.

Surviving are his children, Amy Gonzalez (Jay) of Fletcher, NC, Colleen Cope (Jamie) of Whittier, NC; sister, Kathy Sebesta (Lee) of Greenfield, IN; grandchildren , Krystiana Davis Gonzalez (Taylor) of Fletcher, NC; Joey Gonzalez (Julie) of Fletcher, NC; Sylas Gonzalez of Fletcher, NC ; niece Cindy Celusnak (Michael) of Pendleton, IN; and nephew, Jim Sebesta (Lisa) of Washington, MI.

A private service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory be made to Samaritan’s Purse for the Hurricane Helene Recovery Fund.
