Ima Jean Clayton Lance, 84, of Rosman, North Carolina, died January 4, 2020, at Transylvania Regional Hospital.

Ima Jean was born in Rosman, North Carolina, on August 20, 1935, to Emma Conley Clayton and Tom Clayton. She was active in Mount Moriah Baptist Church, enjoyed bingo, fishing and planting flowers. She was a collector, especially of angels and dolls. Ima Jean loved her dogs, and loved talking to people. She retired from her work at Ecusta in the 1980’s.

Ima Jean was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, James Robert Lance; sisters Reba Clayton Lance and Marie Searcy, and sister-in-law Nancy Marie Lance; sons Tom Jean Clayton and Motto Carrol Lance; nephew Charles Gordon Lance and niece Barbara Lance Rigsby and her husband James Michael Rigsby, Sr.; great-niece Crystal; and great-great-niece Casey.

Ima Jean is survived by her children, James Thomas Lance of Rosman, North Carolina, Carolyn Flynn and her spouse, Ken, of Etowah, NC, and Linda Cole Morgan and her spouse, Robert, of Hendersonville, NC; lifelong companion Robert Mack Powell; family friends Jerry Wayne Rigsby, Lisa Courtney and Bill Cecil; daughter-in-law Cindy Lance; sisters-in-law Bonnie Lance of Brevard and Geraldine Lance, and brother-in-law James Harold Lance of Rosman, NC; nieces and nephews Kim Lance Ensley, Jerry Lance, Regina Lance, Rhonda Lance Bell, Ronnie Lance, Joey and Mary Lance, Rosemary Wich, Eddie and Heddie Lance, Ellen and Gerald Leopard, Jimmy Lance and wife Maxine of Rosman, NC, Eloise and Mike Mooneyham, Tina and Tim Pressley, Joey and Mary Lance, Michael and Casey Lance, Annette and Gregg McCall, Ray and Carey Leopard, and Jamie Patterson and April Graveley; grandchildren Colin Lance of Brevard, NC, Ricky Lance of Rosman, NC, Jessica Cole of Etowah, NC, Joseph Cole of Hendersonville, NC, Curtis Clayton and spouse Kara of Central, South Carolina, and Tommy Clayton and spouse Vickie of Rosman, NC; great-grandchildren Mattie Lance, Cannon Clayton, Shaylee Clayton, Alana Clayton and Reed Clayton; great-neices and nephews Darren, Derick McCall, James Rigsby, Jr., Angie Rigsby, Natasha Myers, Junior Myers, Kelly Myers, Taylor Lance, Taylor Travis Lance and Walker Lance Travis, and great-nephew and friend Phillip Golden.
