James (Jim) Porter Langford

James (Jim) Porter Langford, age 70, passed away on May 3rd, 2023 in Buncombe County, North Carolina. Jim was born in Graham County, NC to the late Harold P. Langford and late Ava Crowder Langford. He was preceded in death by his beloved spouse, Sally Gunderson, his sister Sheila Langford Hall, his brother Calvin Langford, and his grandson Aaron Langford. Jim is survived by his sister Jane Langford (Jennifer Dale), sister Effie Elaine Ballis (Chris), former wife Billie Fowler, son Jamie Langford (Roni), daughter Kathy Moore, grandchildren Taylor Roach (Nate), Alex Flinn, Tori Langford, great-granddaughter Blakely Roach, and Sally’s sons: Bill, Mark, Marvin, and Philip. Jim was a long-time resident of Buncombe County and loved spending time with his family, which brought him his greatest joy. He was a kindhearted man who never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Jim's lifelong career consisted of various trades in construction, and he worked with his son for the last 15 years of his career before retiring in 2021. Jim was loved and respected by all who knew him, and his passing is a great loss to his family and our community. His memory will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to those around him. A memorial service in honor of Jim will be held on Sunday, May 7th at 5:00 PM at Covenant Community Church 11 Rocket Dr. in Asheville.
