Janet (Jamerson) Ponder

            Janet Jamerson Ponder of Penrose, North Carolina, passed August 14, 2023. Born September 12, 1949, to the late William and Alma Crowe Jamerson, she was seventy-three. Janet was born and raised in Rosman, North Carolina, and moved to Penrose for the rest of her days. She graduated with Rosman High School’s Class of 1967.

            In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Ashe, and eleven other brothers and sisters; and a daughter, Melinda “Mindy” Ponder.

            She is survived by children Chris Ponder (Jennifer) of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Lori Ponder and Michelle “Missy” Young (J.R.), both of Penrose; siblings, Robert “Bob” Jamerson and Brenda Faye Mahoney, both of Rosman; grandchildren, Bailey Ponder of Penrose, Garrett and Grant Maybin, both of Hendersonville, David Queen and Leigha Young of Penrose, and Joshua Ponder of Charlotte; sister-in-law, Cathy Ponder of Penrose; and many nieces and nephews.

            A service will be held from two to four o’clock the afternoon of August 19, 2023, at Little River Baptist.
