Jerry Douglas Brown, 91, of Fairview, NC went to be with his Heavenly Father on May 21, 2022. He was a dedicated son, husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend. A memorial service will be held soon, and the date will be announced by the immediate family.
Jerry was greeted at Heaven’s gate by his loving wife of 64 years, Geraldine, his parents, Fred and Rosa, his siblings, Jean, Shirley, and Bobby, his stepmother, Helen, and his children, Betty Jean Rivera, and Brent Brown. Jerry leaves behind, his sister, Sue, his children and their spouses, Neal and Cheryl Brown, who cared for him in his final years, Keith and Irma Brown, Angelo and Natalie Barfield, LeaVern and DeGaulle Saleh, 15 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren. He will be missed by all, especially his great grandkids, Emmitt and Ivy, who loved to climb on his lap. This was a great joy for Jerry.
Jerry was a man of many trades. After being medically discharged from the U.S. Navy, he provided for his growing family as a milkman, a truck driver, a CSX railroad man, a security guard at the YMCA campground, and an entrepreneur in his retirement. But what Jerry loved most in his work was driving the children’s train at the Biltmore Square Mall in Asheville, NC. Throughout his life, Jerry just wanted to make people smile, hoping that he made their day a bit brighter.
Jerry was a Godly man, and a prayer warrior. His children would often see him go into his room and get on his knees to pray for them. He lovingly and diligently took care of his loving wife, Geraldine, through the last years of her life when she suffered from dementia. As we grieve his loss, we are comforted by the promise that his Heavenly Father prepared a place for him and that we will see him again in Heaven where we know he is dancing on those streets of gold while mom sings in the choir of angels.
Thank you, Daddy
