Jessica Leigh Edmonds, fondly known as Jessy, passed away Saturday, May 22 at her home in Candler.
She was born August 11, 1980 in Hickory, NC to William Mauney of Marshall, NC and Amy Kotner of Murrieta, CA.
In addition to her parents, Jessy is survived by her husband David, brother Josh Mauney and his partner Shelly Jahnke of Asheville, niece Bella Mauney and nephews Prizm and Rory Moon also of Asheville and stepfather Tony Kotner of Murrieta, CA. Jessy leaves behind grandparents Ted and Carol Mauney of Todd, NC and grandfather Ned Bolick of Hickory, NC, as well as many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her kindness, intelligence, compassion, big laugh, and vibrant smile.
Jessy was passionate about nature and was proud to be a resident of Western North Carolina where she enjoyed the abundance of natural beauty. She also loved spending time tending to her chickens, and nurturing her cat, KitKat
and dog, Xander.
A celebration of life gathering will be held at Woodfin River Park on Sunday, June 13 at 5:00 p.m. Friends and family are encouraged to attend and tell their favorite story about Jessy. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Western North Carolina AIDS Project (WNCAP), an organization that Jessy truly believed in and regularly supported.
