John Edward Cullum

John Edward Cullum, 88, of Leicester, North Carolina, passed away on August 26, 2021 at the Charles George V.A. Medical Center, in Asheville, North Carolina.  John was born on August 15, 1933 to the late Lawrence M. Cullum, who passed away in 1967, and Rose G. Nocera Cullum, who passed away in 1999.  John served in the United States Army during the Korean War.  He also worked as an insurance agent and loved sports.

John is survived by his loving spouse, Mildred Jane Spencer Cullum, daughter, Jane Gagne (Steven), of Leicester, North Carolina, son, John L. Cullum, of Daytona Beach, Florida, grandchildren, Angela Balnis, of Asheville, North Carolina, and Matthew Balnis (Kelsey), of Leicester, North Carolina, and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, September 24, 2021, at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, located in Black Mountain, North Carolina.  A special thanks to the doctors and nurses that took care of our father at the Charles George V.A. Medical Center MICU.
