John William Halfacer

John William Halfacer, age 84, of Abilene, TX passed away on May 26, 2025 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC. John was born in Hopkins, KY on October 8, 1940 to the late Lela Jeanette Hunt Parker and Franklin Halfacer.

John proudly served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and 11 months. He also served in the U.S. Air Force for 17 years and 6 months. He was an electronic warfare engineer. Throughout his life, John enjoyed fishing, target shooting, and hunting.

John is preceded in death by his wife, Song Halfacer, and his sisters, Phyllis Sutton and Sue Settle. John is survived by his children, Debbie Flynn, of Trussville, AL, Jerry Halfacer, of Abilene, TX, Tracie Bulkeley (Craig), of Black Mountain, NC, Kellie Zach (Greg), of Virginia Beach, VA, and Kim Lara (David), of Knoxville, TN; his siblings, Jerry Parker, of Niceville, FL, and Cindy Bobbin (Ralph), of Mary Esther, FL; his grandchildren, Stephen Burton (Quana), Scott Burton (Laura Beth),Stephanie Carrigan, Adam Halfacer,Tiffany Halfacer, Matthew Halfacer, Tammy Halfacer, Mary Rachel Boyd (William), Charlotte Credle (Austin), Tyler Zach (Julia), Emily Zach, Hannah Lewis (Justin), Savana Lara, and Jonathan Lara (Kaitlyn). He is also survived by several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.

A service will be held on July 17, 2025 at 7 PM at International Baptist Church of Abilene located at 602 Palm St, Abilene, TX 79602 with Pastor Lee officiating. Interment will take place at the Abilene VA Cemetery.

There will be a military service and final salute to honor John’s service and his country. All are welcome to be a part of the service. It will begin promptly at 9 AM on Friday, July 18 at Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene located at 8457 W Lake Rd., Abilene, TX 79601.
