John "Tom" Murray

Our father John "Tom" Murray passed away on November 8, 2024 at the age of 79 after a short illness. He was born on December 19, 1944 at the Misericordia Hospital in the Bronx, NY to Maureen Agnew. He was raised by his grandmother Winifred Murray that he lovingly called Nan. Tom graduated from New Rochelle High School and served in the US Navy until 1966. As a sailor he was the Helmsman for CVG-7 Springfield, Cleveland Class light cruiser. 

He owned a travel agency, he also loved computer programming and golf.

Tom always traveled and lived in many places including Virginia, California, Kansas City, KS, Mexico and Costa Rica. For a good portion of his life he lived in Miami, but had settled in Ashville, NC and called the mountains there his last home. 

He is survived by his sons James Murray of Virginia, Glenn (Nikki) Murray of Virginia, daughter Melissa (Joe) Murray of Florida. Grandsons: Ayden, Dakota, Jordan, Donovan, Devon, and Granddaughter Ryan.
