Johnnie Mitchel Jones, fifty-year resident of Asheville, North Carolina, died June 7, 2020, at Mission Memorial hospital. He was ninety-two years old.
Johnnie loved life. He was born to Emily Tabor Jones and Eugene Jones on May 21, 1928, in Asheville. He served as a Marine during the Korean War, and was a retired security guard. Johnnie loved nature walks and working with his chickens. He was a weight lifter and a fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a great-grandchild, Jacob Corey.
Johnnie is survived by his wife of forty-eight years, Brenda Sue Parker Jones; his daughters, Belinda Barnes and her husband Keven of Maryville, Tennessee, and Jackie Hannah and her husband David of Canton, North Carolina; grandchildren, Andrea Corey and her husband Chris, Mitchel Montieth, Jonathan Cole and his wife Erin, and Haley Bradford and her husband Timothy; his four living great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Details regarding a memorial service held in Johnnie’s honor will be announced at a later date.
