Joyce C. Clements, twenty-six-year resident of Arden, North Carolina, passed January 6, 2024, in Asheville. Born November 15, 1942, to the late Claude C. and Dorothy L. Clontz in New Port News, Virginia, she was eighty-one.
Joyce worked in industries her whole life. She lived most of her life in Western North Carolina where she raised her family. She and her husband, James Clements, were married fifty-eight years. Joyce was a wonderful, loving mother. She made sure her children were raised in church and knew that they were loved. She loved her family, and each and every one of her grands – it brightened her day when her kids called or stopped by. Joyce watched her church services daily and read her Bible. She was a Christian, and let everyone know. She enjoyed teaching her grandchildren about the Bible, and sharing with them about our Lord and Savior through scripture. She also enjoyed crafts, and working with her grandchildren to teach them assorted crafts. Joyce planted flowers yearly, and enjoyed them each spring.
In addition to her parents, Joyce was preceded in death by her husband; siblings, Bill, David and Robert Clontz, Irene Hill, and Helen Sutphin; and granddaughter, Kimberly Hardaway.
She is survived by her children, James A. Clements (Tisha Clements) of Asheville, Julia Stonecipher (Bill Stonecipher) of Hendersonville, and Janice Clements of Arden; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A service will be held at eleven o’clock the morning of Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Ebenezer Baptist Church. Visitation will be prior to the service, beginning at ten o’clock. Pastor Steven Blanton will officiate. Memorials may be sent to 2557 Chimney Rock Road, Hendersonville, North Carolina 28792.
