Kenneth Ames Maultsby

Kenneth Ames Maultsby, 95, of Leicester, NC passed away on May 18th, 2022 at his home.

Kenneth was born in Pender County, NC to the late Garland Eugene Maultsby and

Eleanor Dorothy Mayo Maultsby.  Kenneth graduated from North Carolina State University as a

civil engineer.  He served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1946.  Kenneth was a Boy

Scout and a Scout leader.  He served Eliada Homes, ABCCM, his church and other community

service organizations throughout his life.  He enjoyed gardening, tutoring and playing chess.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his two brothers, Garland Eugene and James

Alexander and his niece, Ruth Allison Nardi.  Kenneth is survived by his loving spouse of 72

years, Peggy Jane Utt Maultsby; his son, Ken Maultsby Jr. (Diana) of Leicester, NC; his

daughter, Rebecca Maultsby Brown (Gary), of Charlotte, NC; his sisters, Ruth Coleman Best of

Hampstead, NC and Ellen “Chickie” Maultsby Williams (John) of Wilmington, NC; his

grandchildren Matthew Ames Maultsby (Amanda) of Asheville, NC, Rachel Brown Kincaid

(Christopher) of Homer, AK, Kathryn Maultsby Madison (David) of Asheville, NC, C. Tyler Brown

of Brooklyn, NY, Drew Harrell (Cory) of Sacramento, CA and Cara Stout (Josh) of

Jonesborough, TN.  Kenneth is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces

and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  The family requests that any memorials

be made to the hospice efforts in your community.  In his own words: “God gave me earthly birth

and spiritual birth…no man could have asked for a more abundant life.”
