Kenneth F. Poirier, 84, of Asheville, NC — formerly of Andover, MA — passed away on May 20, 2026 at the Veterans Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a veteran, a devoted family man, and a loyal friend to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Born in Methuen, MA on July 16, 1941 to Wilfred J. Poirier and Arlene (Teichert) Poirier, Kenneth graduated from Andover High School in 1959. He went on to serve his country with distinction, enlisting in the US Navy before transitioning to the US Air Force, where he retired honorably after 13 years of service at the rank of Staff Sergeant.
After his military career, Kenneth built a second career in the private sector, ultimately retiring from The Home Depot. In retirement, he found his greatest joy in the simple things — time with family and friends, and the steady companionship of his dog, Koda.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Debra; his daughter, Felicia Poirier, and her partner Keith, of Frisco, TX; his brother, Randall G. Poirier, and his wife Susan, of Tewksbury, MA; his nieces Nicole Poirier of Cumberland, ME, and Alicia Kalil and her husband Matt of Dracut, MA; and Alicia’s children Jackson, Avrie, Benjamin, and Mia. He is also survived by many beloved cousins.
Per Kenneth’s wishes, he will be cremated. Funeral services and burial will be private.
