Leonard Lee Landers, lifetime resident of Marshall, North Carolina, died March 31, 2020, at the Laurels of Summit Ridge Nursing Home in Asheville. He was seventy-three.
Leonard was born to the late Helen “Jean” Shelton Effler and Foy Landers in Greene County, Tennessee, on January 30, 1947. He graduated from Laurel High School in Marshall, North Carolina. Leonard was a farmer, a hunter and a fisherman. He loved his family and being outdoors.
In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his son, Ashley Landers, and an aunt, Edith Waldrop.
He is survived by Patricia Darlean Shelton Landers, his spouse of fifty-two years; his children, Connie Metcalf and her husband, Herman, of Marshall, North Carolina, Pamla Owenby and her husband, Rick, of Leicester, North Carolina, and Tunya Huskins and her husband, Lee, of Erwin, Tennessee; grandchildren Lance Metcalf, Dawson Metcalf, Miles Metcalf, Cameron Clark, Madalin Huskins, MacKenzie Huskins, Keeli Huskins, Britney Ross and her husband, Tyler; great-grandchildren Jameson and Brennon Ross; step-mom Velva Landers of Erwin, Tennessee; aunt Jenalee Hensley and her husband Clellan of Erwin, Tennessee; ex-son-in-law Travis Clark; and several cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held at the Landers Family Cemetery at a later date.
