September 28, 1944 ~ August 1, 2023 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Obituary

Malcolm Edward Miller-Jones of Asheville, North Carolina, died peacefully, after a long illness, on August 1, 2023. He was born September 28, 1944 to Henry August Miller-Jones and Eleanor Gannon Miller-Jones in New York, New York, the youngest of three boys.

Malcolm attended Bowling Green State University before serving as a Specialist in the army during the Vietnam War. He was proud of his long career in construction management, and often pointed to skyscrapers, hospitals, and concert halls around the world that he took part in building. After 24 years at Turner Construction, he ended his career with the creation of a construction management company at Heery International in Atlanta, GA.  While his career moved his family all over the US and beyond, in retirement Malcolm especially adored living in Miami, FL and his 13 years in Asheville, NC.

Malcolm will be most remembered for his sense of adventure and passion for life. He loved being in command in nature, whether sailing his boat, skiing, riding his motorcycle or camping throughout the National Parks. He loved great cities, especially NYC where he grew up and London where he and his family later lived. He loved to travel and explore new cultures, often trying on local accents in foreign lands (much to the amusement of his family). He loved great food, both low and high brow.  He loved entertaining with a beautiful setting and excellent cocktails, while regaling good friends and family with his colorful stories. He loved listening to music, especially in a live setting. Malcolm was an artist and a builder.

Malcolm is survived by his beloved spouse of many years, Ruth Ann Miller-Jones; Children:  Sean Townsend Miller-Jones of Los Angeles, CA, Lindsay Kirsten Anderson (Ryan) of Bexley, OH, and Kristen Courtney M-J Goldstein (Daniel) of Malibu, CA and Grandchildren: Bryce James, Reid Thomas, Sabrina Eleanor Anderson and Aerin Katherine Goldstein. In addition, he has two brothers: Robert H. Miller-Jones of Chester, New Jersey and Henry A. Miller-Jones, Jr. of Vestal, NY.

A private Memorial will be held on Saturday, August 19.  Condolences may be shared at AshevilleMortuaryServices.com
