Marcos was born and raised in Austin, TX living there throughout his life before moving to Asheville, NC to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. He attended Austin High School before joining the United States Marine Corps, where he served during the Vietnam era.
Marcos is survived by his daughters, Amanda Bazan (Jeremiah Philip LeRoy) of Asheville, NC; Angie Cservak (John) of Bertram, TX; sisters, Julie Castilleja (Frank), and Elvira B. The Bazan family would like to extend a special thanks to his dear friend Bill Kelly. Marcos’ life became infinitely better the moment he met Bill, a fellow veteran. They met religiously three days a week at the VA hospital where Bill volunteered. Together they built a remarkable friendship that provided Marcos with hope, laughter and brotherhood.
Marcos woke up every day purposeful and determined to be a good Marine. Known for his meticulous nature and steadfast optimism, Marcos faced every challenge in his life with gratitude and quiet dignity. He loved cheering on his favorite Texas sports teams, the Dallas Cowboys, University of Texas Longhorns and San Antonio Spurs. He found joy in the simple things – watching westerns, caring for his plants and spending time with his loved ones. His family is grateful for the time we had with him and for the strength he inspired. We love and miss you dearly. You will always be our shining light.
