Margaret Grace (Bowers) Dalton

            Margaret Bowers Dalton, 86, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, died June 9th, 2022, following a very brief and unexpected illness.

            Margaret was a lifelong resident of Henderson County, North Carolina, and worked for General Electric in computer and information systems for over 40 years. She was a true champion of community service, and gave so much of herself to those causes. She was active in the American Business Women’s Association, and at one time was awarded as their National Woman of the Year. Without fail, Margaret supported Salvation Army every year at Christmas. Her greatest effort was Hendersonville Lions Club, which she was deeply involved in up until just a few days before her passing. She served the Lions Club in many aspects and positions, including president and secretary. She received some of their most prestigious awards for service and was an ever-present fixture in their community events, be it Apple Festival breakfast, Film Festival or photos with Santa for the kids. You could always find her fundraising for Lions Club at Belk Charity days. These are just a small fraction of the causes she supported, and her loss and absence will indeed be felt by many.

            Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Steadman Bowers, and father, Guy Bowers, both of Henderson County; sister, Ev B. Sweet of Asheville, North Carolina, and brother, Paul G. Bowers, of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Maryville, Tennessee; grandson, Ryan C. Dalton; daughter-in-law, Cathy S. Dalton of Hendersonville, North Carolina; and nephew, Timmothy Arrington of Virginia.

            She is survived by her son, Terry K. Dalton (Mary Dorn) of Hendersonville, North Carolina; nephews, Michale Arrington (Cherry) of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Mark Arrington (Robert Hill) of Asheville, North Carolina, and niece Paula Evans (John) of Maryville, Tennessee; and great-nephews and nieces, Jessica and Connor Evans of Maryville, Tennessee, Carissa Arrington Simpson of Hendersonville, North Carolina, and Neil Arrington of Virginia.

            You could not have anyone more proud of her family or a greater supporter of them than Margaret, and a more loyal friend could not be had. She will be greatly missed by her family and all those who knew her, and her absence will be hard to fill in the causes that she so greatly supported. Everyone loved Margaret; fittingly, as her birthday was February 14th.

            Details regarding a memorial service will be shared in the coming weeks as arrangements are finalized. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hendersonville Lions Club.
