With joyful remembrance, we celebrate the remarkable life of Margaret Louise Ard Moore, who departed this world on December 16, 2025, in Asheville, NC after some years of declining health. Margaret was born to William Archie Ard, Sr. and Myrtle H. Browder on January 18, 1943, in Greeleyville, SC. She was pre-deceased by her brothers, William Butler Browder and Archie Ard, Jr, and her ex-husband, Edward Moore. Her stepfather, James William Browder, also pre-deceased her and was an important part of her life.
Margaret graduated from Berkley High School in Manning, SC and attended the University of South Carolina for a brief time. She lived in South Carolina and North Carolina and eventually moved to Waynesville, NC to be closer to her son and daughter. She dearly loved the area, as well as the Charleston, SC area when she was in high school. During her life she had been a bank teller, movie theater manager, “soda jerk” at an old drug store, and a drum maker. She was most proud to be an artist and had an art studio in Monroe, NC. Margaret was a volunteer with numerous organizations. She was a softball and basketball coach, a volunteer at Crisis Assistance Ministries in Monroe, NC and Haywood Christian Ministries in Waynesville, NC. She was also a member of First Presbyterian Church in Waynesville, NC and loved her church family. She was proudest to be a daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend.
Margaret leaves behind her son, Brian L. Moore (Heidi) of Murphy NC, daughter Kimberly D. Moore (Pam) of Asheville NC, grandchildren Dalton Moore (Morgan) of Murphy NC and Brianna Fisher (Bryce) of Cullowhee NC. Margaret is also survived by her sister Joan Eubanks (Wayland), and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. They were all very special to Margaret. The family would like to thank Swannanoa Valley Health and Rehab for their loving, kind, and respectful care of Margaret during the last weeks of her life, and Vicki Thompson Miller for her care, compassion, and help in caring for Margaret for 3 years
A memorial service will be held later, during warmer months. Those wishing to do so can donate in Margaret’s name to the Alzheimer's Association or any organization that helps others overcome obstacles. Or just pull for the University of South Carolina, one of her great loves!
