Margaret Kennedy Newberry

Margaret “Peggy” Kennedy Newberry, 84, of Candler, NC, passed away Friday, May 8, 2026, at Pisgah Manor. Born August 17, 1941, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Neal. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School, class of 1959, and worked for several years at Robins AFB in Houston County, GA. She was a member and past elder of Helen Presbyterian Church, and, more recently, a member of Hazelwood Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and sewing. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Clifton Neal. Surviving are her children, Donna Grant and her spouse, Kevin, of Cleveland, GA, and Lisa Lawrence of Waynesville, NC; brother, Edward Neal and his spouse, Karen, of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Chase Pappas, Nick Pappas, Alex Pappas, Tyler Lawrence, Maegan Lawrence and her spouse, Ashton Sims, and Katy Lawrence and her spouse, Christian Huff; great-grandchildren, Leo Pappas, Ryder Sims, Rosie Huff, and Sterling Huff; and sister-in-law, Peggie Neal of Lawrence, SC. A service will be held at a later date.
