Margaret Sellers Obituary

Margaret Marie Sellers, died peacefully Sunday, April 10,2022 at Pisgah Manor nursing home in Candler, North Carolina. She was ninety-five.

Margaret was born February 21, 1927 in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport and moved to Monterey, California in her 20’s followed by her parents and brother. In 1953, Margaret met and married her late husband of 68 years, Walter (deceased June 7, 2021). While living in California, Margaret attended business school and took voice lessons in opera and had a beautiful alto range. She loved to sing around the house and participated in church choirs.

Margaret loved living overseas in Germany and Italy as part of Walter’s military assignments. She spoke German and Italian fluently and loved the people and culture of both countries. She felt fortunate to live four years in Italy, her parents’ ancestral home. She loved cooking, especially dishes of her heritage and passed on favorite recipes to her daughters. Margaret had a green thumb and loved having plants and flowers in her home. She dearly loved her family, pets, and friends and cherished her Catholic faith. Fittingly, she died on Palm Sunday, a holy day of importance to her.

Surviving Margaret are her two twin daughters, Mary Doyle (David, deceased) of Simpsonville, Kentucky and Claire Tiernan (John, deceased) of Candler, North Carolina.

Margaret’s daughters are grateful to her dedicated and loving private caregivers. They are also thankful for the support of the wonderful hospice teams of Four Seasons and the caring staff at both Harmony at Reynolds Mountain assisted living and Pisgah Manor nursing home. They also appreciate the invaluable support and medical care Margaret received from MemoryCare staff of Asheville, North Carolina.

A celebration of life service honoring both Margaret and Walter will take place at a future date.
