Marilyn Lee Cook

Marilyn Lee Cook, 89, of Chapel Hill, NC passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at the Taylorsville House in Taylorsville, NC.

Born June 22, 1936 in Solano County, CA, she was a daughter of the late Benton and Alice Scott. She was an alumnus of UNC Greensboro Women’s College where she received her bachelor’s degree, Lenoir-Rhyne College where she received her master’s degree, and the University of Virginia where she received her doctorate. Marilyn was a retired professor of Curriculum and English from various universities. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, a previous member and president of the Caldwell County Art Council, and competitive swimmer whom was unmatched in the backstroke.

Surviving are a son and daughter, a sister, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A private service will be held at a later date.
