Marshall Lee Penix, aged 83, of Buncombe, NC, passed away November 6, 2023.

Marshall was born August 20, 1940, in Buncombe, NC, to the late Thurman Penix and Lucille Burnette. He worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for 31 years.

In addition to his parents, Marshall was preceded in death by his daughter, Marsha Penix Farris; Granddaughter, Kayla; siblings, Johnny, Gill, Ray, Don, and Sarah Lou.

Marshall is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Deanna Smith Penix; Children, Tonya Penix (Allen Burnette) of Asheville, NC, Anthony (Krista) Penix of Birmingham, AL and Joel Farris (Son-N-Law) of State College, PA; grandchildren, Jackson Farris of Wilmington, NC, Ciara Burnette of Queens, NY, Sophia and Emari Burnette of Asheville, NC, Tony and Kinley Penix of Birmingham, AL; siblings, Steve (Nancy) Penix of Asheville, NC, Mary Sue Katner of Asheville, NC, and Rachel Beal of Woodroff, SC.

Marshall has passed away peacefully at the Hospice Solace Center in Asheville, NC.
