Mary Edna (Andrews) Sancrant

Mary Edna Andrews Sancrant, 86, of Swannanoa, NC died December 25th, 2021 at the Laurels of Summit Ridge in Asheville after a long illness.

She was born April 21st, 1935 on Easter Sunday in a small community called Japan, now beneath the waters of the Fontana Dam in Graham County, NC. Preceded in death by her husband, James Leon Sancrant (July 11, 2001), her father, Norvin Marshall Andrews, mother Lois Modina Crisp Andrews, and her brother Kyle Harlon Andrews.

She is survived by her daughter, Carla Elaine Hollar of Swannanoa, her brother Lyle Gwen Andrews of North East, MD, and her sister, Anna Lou Griffin of Honea Path, SC.

Mary traveled extensively, living in Washington DC, Trenton, MI, Santa Clara, CA and Las Vegas,NV. She was admired for her wit, her incredible cooking skills, her strength and compassion for others. She loved cats, puzzles, the Food Network, and Star Trek.

Beloved wife and mother, she will be missed greatly. Rest in Peace.

A short memorial will take place on her birthday, April 21, 2022, 2PM at the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery chapel in Black Mountain, NC. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a local animal charity in her name.
