Mary Ellen Sheridan of Asheville, North Carolina, died September 8, 2024. Born September 23, 1930, to the late Mary-Elizabeth Keim Blue and Charles Pettit McIlvaine in Indianapolis, Indiana, Mary was ninety-three.
Mary was a previous resident of Chillicothe, Ohio, and Rochester, New York. She graduated from Stephens College, Ohio State and Penn State. She retired from her work of clinical psychologist, school administrator, and teacher with New York State. Mary was a member of New York State Teachers Association, Kappa Kappa Gamma National Sorority, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daffodil Society. She practiced ikebana, the Japanese art of flower arranging, and rug hooking. Mary enjoyed visits to the Chautauqua Institution.
In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles and Albert McIlvaine.
She is survived by her children, Jeremy Sheridan (Amy Sheridan) of Weaverville, North Carolina, and Charles Sheridan (Lisa Sheridan) of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Graeson Sheridan (fiancé Anahi Gomez), Landon Sheridan and Liam Sheridan all of Weaverville, and Stephanie Sheridan and Nicole Sheridan, both of Westerville, Ohio; and by Heather McIlvaine (Michael Newsad) of McComb, Illinois, Chad McIlvaine (Gretchen McIlvaine) of Frankford, Ohio, and Keim McIlvaine (Kathy McIlvaine) of New Albany, Ohio.
She was surrounded by her family at her time of passing. Meme was loved by her family of sons, grandchildren, daughters-in-law and friends. She will be missed by so many.
An interment service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Frankford, Ohio, on October 4, 2024. She will be laid to rest alongside her two brothers.
