Matthew Scott Russell

Matthew Scott Russell, 27, of Asheville, NC, passed away March 1, 2023, at his residence in Asheville, NC.

He was born March 11, 1995, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He grew up in Summerville, SC. He had lived in Asheville, NC, since 2020. He loved hiking, reading, and computers. He was of the Methodist faith.

Matt was preceded in death by his uncle William Bart Graces, his maternal grandfather William Franklin Graces, His Paternal grandmother Mary Ann Russell.

Survivors include his mother, Katherine Lee Matthews (Gary); father, Scott Fredrick Russell (Christa); brothers, Jacob Scott Russell (Courtney) and Ryan Matthews (Chelsea); nephew, Ellison Matthews; nieces, Macy-Jean Matthews and Lanie Matthews; aunt, Anna Barry (Steve), Cindy Russell; maternal grandmother, Rose Marie Graves; and paternal grandfather Jay Russell.

Memorial Services will be determined at a later date.
