Melissa Dawn Webster

Melissa Dawn Webster, 54, of Asheville, NC passed away on January 8, 2026 in Hendersonville, NC. Born on August 23, 1971 in Asheville, NC to George Viands of Leicester, NC and the late Betty Viands (2010).

In addition to her mother, she is preceded by her maternal grandmother, Ethel Penley; maternal grandfather, Vernon Penley; and uncle, Vernon Penley Jr. Melissa was a devoted member of Woodland Terrace Missionary Baptist Church, where her faith shaped so much of her daily joy. She found peace and expression in drawing and coloring, loved the quiet patience of fishing, and cherished every opportunity to talk about the Lord. Her Bible was never far from reach, and her voice—whether humming or singing—was one of her favorite ways to share her spirit with others.

Surviving are her children, Christen Terry (Greg) of Asheville, NC, Amber Tipton (Kevin) of Asheville, NC; two brothers; two sisters; sister, Maryann Viands of Asheville, NC; grandchildren, Madyson, Hunter, June, Kaylie; aunt, Leila Penley; cousins, Samantha Lunsford (Craig), Nashae Minyard, Felicia Treadway (Jacob), Ryder Treadway (“her little buddy”). Rascal (“her best friend”), Janelle Minyard (cousin, sister, and caregiver); and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on February 7, 2026 at 3:00 P.M. at Woodland Terrace Missionary Baptist Church.
