Michael Barbee

Michael Barbee of Candler, North Carolina, passed May 1, 2022. He was seventy-six.            

Mike was born February 10, 1946 to the late Ethel Polly Harris Barbee and Hubert R. Barbee in Stanly County, North Carolina. He retired from BellSouth and volunteered with Care Partners and ABCCM.  Mike was a founding member and ordained minister of Glory Tabernacle.

Surviving Mike are Pamela McElreath Barbee, to whom he was married forty-two years; his children, Laura Caldwell (Joel)  of Albemarle, North Carolina, Chris Barbee (Wendy) of Inverness, Florida, and Jason Barbee (Jerri) of Oakboro, North Carolina; sisters, Joann Barbee (John Rongish) of Ridgecrest, California, Jane Helms (Darrell) of Concord, North Carolina and brother, Rev. Steve Barbee (Sherry) of Oakboro, North Carolina; 10 Grandchildren; 13 Great Grandchildren; and 4 Nephews.

Memorial Service will be Sunday, May 22, 2022, from 4pm to 5pm at Glory Tabernacle (1221 Sweeten Creek Road, Asheville, NC) conducted by Pastor Ronnie Pittman and Rev. Steve Barbee.  A visitation will take place prior to the service from 3pm to 4pm.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to ABCCM (20 20th Street, Asheville, NC  28806).
