Michael Wayne Sykes, born in 1955, left the suffering of this world on April 23, 2021, and joined his heavenly father to be held in love and peace for all eternity. Although Michael had a very rough start in this life, he grew to be a good man with an amazing heart. Michael loved his country, and he proudly and honorably served in the United States military as both a Marine and Army soldier, retiring after 25 years of faithful service. Michael lived and loved life to the fullest, but he could not overcome the effects of a devastating stroke in 2006, and he suffered severe physical and mental health challenges until his final days.
Michael was preceded in death by his beautiful and beloved wife Amanda Hollingsworth, his precious dogs Jake and Alex, his mother Shirley Travis, his father Bobby Sykes, his brother Randall Huey, and his Aunt Pat Williams.
Michael leaves behind two daughters, Samantha Renee and Caryn Ivy, who will hold the most beautiful memories of their dad forever in their hearts, and their husbands respectively David Crawford and Jamie Ziegler, and grandsons Hunter Crawford and Orion Ziegler. He also leaves behind a sister Jacqueline June, uncle Kenny Kennedy and wife Sandy, uncle Gene Cole, and many loving friends and family.
Michael will be greatly missed, but he will be forever held with divine love in the arms of God.
