Nadine June (Thorson) Lloyd

     Nadine June (Thorson) Lloyd of Mills River, North Carolina, died Wednesday, May 6, 2020, at Advent Health Hospital, Hendersonville. NC. She was a month shy of seventy-nine.

     Nadine was born to Jennie and Omer Thorson in Cope, Colorado on June 17, 1941. She attended Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD and earned her Master's Degree in Teaching from the University of Colorado. She taught elementary school in the Jefferson County School System, Arvada, CO for 30 years.  While in the Denver area, she attended and was very much involved in Holy Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lakewood CO. She moved to Mills River, NC in 2003. Nadine was head of the altar guild for many years at Nativity Lutheran Church, Arden, NC and was involved in WELCA, Card Ministry, Home Communion and a Stephen’s Minister. She was a reader, a crafter, a writer and an avid Colorado Rockies baseball fan. She watched every game during the season and even kept score in her own scorebook.  Nadine was a Mills River resident for over seventeen years. Nadine loved her Lord and Savior, and lived her life accordingly.

     Nadine was preceded in death by her parents, and by a son, Trent; a sister, Elaine and brother, Orin. She had many nieces and nephews.

     Surviving her are her husband of thirty-eight years, David K. Lloyd; son Todd and his wife (Amy) of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren Timothy and Aidan, both of Spartanburg, SC; brother and sister-in-law Doug MaGinn (Karen) of Fairfield Glade, TN, and brother-in-law Bill Wilson and his fiancé (Tenia) of Hendersonville, NC.

      A service in Nadine's honor will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Altar Guild and Card Ministry of Nativity Lutheran Church.
