It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia Ann Malloy Goodale, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and devoted member of her community. Predeceased by her husband, Michael Everett Goodale, she was the beloved mother of Karen Goodale Carter and a loving grandmother to Abigail Carter and Michael Carter, who brought her immense joy and pride. Patricia’s warmth, wisdom, and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy of kindness, service, and faith will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
She was the daughter of the late Commander Francis Joseph Malloy and Juanita Thelma Short Malloy, and sister of John Rogers Malloy. She was the aunt of Melissa Palmer and Sondra Schionning (husband Jeffrey), and great-aunt of Sydney Starks (husband Samuel) and their daughter, Sadie.
A lifelong Episcopalian, Patricia was a proud and faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi (Chapin, SC) and later St. Martin’s-in-the-Fields (Columbia, SC), where she found strength, fellowship, and purpose throughout her life. Her unwavering commitment to service was evident in her 30-year career with the American Red Cross, where she traveled extensively in support of disaster relief efforts and touched countless lives through her compassion and dedication.
A memorial service will be held on October 25th at 10:00 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville, NC, where Patricia had recently become a member. A small reception will be held at the church immediately after the service concludes in Stillwell Hall.
A burial service will take place later that day at Forsyth Memorial Park Cemetery in Winston-Salem, NC, at 3:30 p.m., followed by a visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. next door at Vogler Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the 22Q Family Foundation and/or the American Red Cross in Patricia’s honor.
